Heard out of context this quote could be quite embaressing:

Oh, he’s got a loincloth on underneath that!

But all makes sense once you realize, we were at that point (for some unexplainable reason) watching:

I love Apple, but I also have a sense of humor about it. The Onion people are geniuses.

In the course of conversation, one co-worker let another know that she looks like the Fraggle Rock character Mokey. You know, the homeless one…

Offended by this, she noted that this thing is bald on the top of her head. To which I responded:

“Muppets have different hairstyles.”

And of course there’s the fact that she isn’t purple.

There was a conversation about “finger shaves” or whatever it is where a person rubs one index finger against the other out of disappointment. And I paused a moment, in quiet contemplation, but with full sincerity said:

It feels like a “tisk”

Obviously the writer’s strike has taken a toll on things this season. New shows have been hard to come by, and good shows at that… I can only name one. It is an American remake of a British sitcom The Worst Week of My Life. It is about a guy, to whom an inordinate number of bad things happen, and through association, his fianceé and her parents are dragged into the bad things as well.

It is an interesting exercise in television writing as they start out each episode with a barely-there status quo where everybody has had enough time to cool down from the last horrible incident (normally shown in a short clip) and quickly builds motivation upon mishap upon excuse to bend the story toward a relatively believable yet insane ending. It is fairly predictable in the short term (something important is introduced and almost assuredly going to go wrong) but you swiftly end up far from where you could have imagined it going in the beginning of the episode. You definitely would not want to hear about an ending out of context but it would probably make you wonder how they got to that destination.

The acting is uniformly top-notch, especially last week’s episode with Fred Willard on it. Comic genius that guy, he was also recently on Pushing Daisies (a great new show from last year if you even remember it). And for those out there that think women just aren’t as funny as men, I’ve got news for you: Erinn Hayes is an incredible comic actress. I’m willing to see anything she’s in thanks to this show. Worst Week is on Mondays at 9:30 ET on CBS, and a great companion to How I Met Your Mother at 8:30, although I would skip all two and a half of the men between the two.

I now have a sweet new job a little outside of Boston called Pearse Street. It’s been great so far! They kind of got pigeon-holed as MySpace designers, but are definitely capable of doing incredible things. A lot of people are having them build their own social networks now, and they hope to branch out into motion graphics, 3D and all that crazy fun stuff I’m into. Right now I am doing a lot of Flash animation and programming for them, actually designing things of quality, learning new things, and feeling real support from all of my co-workers.

Everybody there is awesome, but just to give a quick sample: Fuchsia, the CEO, really cares about design and making people happy. She is so nice and enthusiastic it’s infectious. Andrew, the creative director, is tons of fun to talk to, and super talented to boot. He’s even a comic book nerd like me, so there’s plenty to geek out over throughout the day. There are even perks like plentiful Mountain Dew and a Foosball table! This place is great, and I hope to be with them for a long, long time.

This may be one of my favorite animated shorts ever.

It’s a hilarious, well-choreographed steam-punk fight between two dandies in giant robots! What’s not to love?

I was just looking through Pretty Loaded and was basically hypnotized until I started seeing repeats. I’m happy to see the art of preloaders is appreciated in some corners of the web!

Well, I did it! I asked Whitney to marry me. Yesterday I picked her up on her birthday, as we had a date to visit with her friends in Portland, Maine. With big plans of drinking ahead of us, Whitney did not appreciate me “accidentally” taking the wrong road, and knew something was up when I pulled into the tennis courts where we had our first date. I reassured her I was just going to give her her present because she would not be able to wait. I had wrapped an elaborate painting I made of her being really excited as I proposed. Where the ring box on the canvas was, I cut a slit and slid the real ring box through. I took the painting out of her hands, got down, said my speech.

And as I said the last line, I flipped the painting around, where the ring box was already open, with the ring presented there for her, and big “Will you marry me?” letters on the back. She accepted, although seemed to be in disbelief, and there is much happiness all around.

Well, I did it: I graduated from college. I am going to miss RIT, but it also feels great to be done. I am so excited for what life has in store for me. And I can finally be with Whitney! YAY! Extra excitement for that!
